Fall Blessings

1. A visit from our wonderful friends Candy and Jack and their dog Sammy. They are the perfect type of house guests. Candy has a wonderful eye for decorating and since I am severely deficient in that department, I used her shamelessly to help make our house look a little more put together. Thank you Jack and JD for moving furniture “just another inch to the left…..to the right…to the left” and not complaining……at least within our earshot.

2. Except for one unfortunate incident involving a dropped Cheez-it, Sammy and Lucy got along beautifully. I’ll bet that both dogs walked a hundred miles over the course of 3 days as they were constantly circling each other and scouting the floor for more dropped food.

3. Perfect fall weather for most of the last week. I think God is trying to make up to us for all the rain that fell during October. He is forgiven. We walked and walked all over our neighborhood, meeting old and new friends alike. I love my little town.

4. Dinner with friends where there was plenty of good food, good fellowship and good wine. I love mixing my different sets of friends and watching what happens.

5. Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. I am now a believer. Although my palpating heart tells me I should have had the decaf.

6. Elena coming down with the flu last night. While this does not, at first glance, seem to fit into this list, it is great that she got it now so that she will be well by Friday when we are scheduled to do something very fun that has been planned for a really long time. Also her case seems to be much, much milder than Katie’s and for that we are truly thankful.

7. Friends who sense that you could use a little pick me up and drop off some of the yummiest soup ever for our supper toinght. Thanks, Mindy. I “heart” you.

8. Leaves in giant piles that served as hours of entertainment for the girls and their friends. They also make for a pretty good place to read a good book.

I love fall.

  1. You must get that love-of-fall thing from your in-laws, Sara. We love it too!

  2. Sara – you are a wonderful hostess. You make us feel like your most special friends – always. You are a blessing in our life. What a great way to start our trip east. I think we’ll just have to make this a tradition for every we head back to VA. And based on our trip back to CO, think we may change our trip back to CO to go through Dayton, as well. Need to start planning the next time through. Thank you for making us feel so phenomenally welcomed and loved.
