Well, the ice storm has left us in the dark.
We are lucky in that we have a working fireplace and children who love to read.
So we’ll pretend we are the Ingalls family during the great winter storm they went through. We’ll gather round the fire, knit a few socks and wait for Almonzo and his brother to show up with a sack of grain before all the food in the fridge gives out.
Hope you are warm and cozy where ever the winter storm finds you.
awww. that is pretty much the sweetest thing i’ve ever heard. i’m glad your kids even know who the heck almonzo is. my kids… not so much. broke my heart that they both abhored LHOP. i absolutely devoured every single one of those books and grew up watching the television show. i always wanted to be mary and i thought ma was the coolest mom ever.
hope you get your power back. can’t believe knoxville escaped the snow… we may blow away, but it looks like most of the bad stuff is over. praying you’re feeling better and are getting some good rest and family time! : )
Thinking of you everyday and you and your family are in our prayers…and my freinds prayers. If I was closer I would there to do whatever I could to help make your days a little easier. The Jane I know(from 20 years ago) will conquer with the Grace of God riding next to her!
I love the idea of pretending that you’re the Ingalls family!! Stay warm and enjoy this especially unique experience. You know, between having no power or no water, I’d go with no power. You can always layer up! What do you think? Do the girls still keep a writer’s notebook? I sense a powerful (no pun intended) writing.
Still thinking of you and always praying for the you and the entire family.
Lots of warmth and love!!
In the Rochester ice storm of 1991, we had no power for 10 days, count ‘em. But each day the temp. went into middle 30′s and sun came out. Our extension cord to the neighbor’s house allowed us to run the furnace 12 hours per day and the fridge and freezer each 6 hours/day. As I recall, the extension cord would let us use one 60 watt bulb at the same time those other things were on, individually. Pray for Dayton Power and Light or whatever their names are. It was federal legislation passed in 1991 that told the power companies they can no longer own generation stations. Be careful who you vote for.
Mother Nature was good to us in Southwestern Pennsylvania. We didn’t get any of the storm. However, tonight we are to get high winds. Luck has been on our side. Now we hope that on Sunday luck remains in Southwestern PA “Go Steelers”
Keep warm! The kids are home from school, we’ve gotten about 8 inches so far and it’s still snowing pretty good. I hope your electricity comes back soon. Enjoy your time together!
Thank goodness for laptops with enough battery power!!! :>)
So funny about the Ingalls family. last winter as VA was pounded by snow I wrote to my daughter and her then boyfriend in the charchter of Ma and Matt as PA and the need to tie a rope to ourselves so that we would find our way back inside! This year, my now future son-in-law gave me the 1st season of “Little House” as my Christmas gift. A treasured memory for my family. Hang in there Ma-go make a doll out of a corncob.
