Devious

Elena and her friend Grace as an 80's and 70's girl for Halloween

We had our parent teacher conference with Elena’s teacher last week.  We are beyond blessed with this teacher.  She is the energizer bunny of all teachers and since she looped up with the kids, we’ve been lucky enough to have her for two years.  She knows these kids so well.  I sometimes think she knows Elena better than we do.

She told me that one of the things she had noticed about Elena is that she was testing some of the boundaries of telling jokes.  She gave this example.

A month or so ago, student council elections were held.  Elena was nominated and had been doing a little campaigning along with the other kids.

One day during this time, Elena came up to Mrs. W who knelt down to her level.  Elena put her arm around her teacher, looked at her with a very serious look on her face and said,

“Mrs. W.  I just want you to know how much I love having you for a teacher.”

Mrs. W told me that she actually got a lump in her throat.  That she had seldom had a child sound so sincere.  She was so touched.

About fifteen minutes later Mrs. W walked out in the hall where one of her fellow teachers took a second look and said to her,

“K, what’s that on your back?”

Her friend reached over and pulled a sticky note off of Mrs. W’s back and handed it to her.

It said  “VOTE FOR ELENA!”

Then she and Elena had a good laugh and Elena assured her that she had indeed meant what she said.  Even if she was being devious.

This one is going to give us a run for our money.  Mark my words.

Love it and Tessa got a good laugh as well! I’m hesitant to show Sophie as I’m afraid she’ll somehow replicate her buddy Elena’s mischevious ways.

It must be in her DNA. As relative Pat Esley says, of his two adult daughters, one of them is his “wild child”. < some Whitlock DNA there. Don't ask about the alleged wild Wayne County Whitlock farm stories of the past. Good thing the Glass genes tempered all that.
