Ten

Dressed for Halloween. But she would really like to dress like this EVERY day:)

“Double Digits!!”

That’s what you kept saying all day Saturday when you turned ten.

I just kept thinking about how fast the time goes.   It seems just yesterday that you were scooting across the floor on your tummy.  Then before we knew it you were off to kindergarten and now you are a fourth grader who could probably go right to junior high tomorrow and do just fine.

That scares me just a little bit.

I’ve been very proud of you this year.   A year that held many challenges and yet you never missed a beat.  You made your own lunch and got yourself up and out the door without much help from me more than I’d have liked and you did it without complaint.

WIth her favorite present.

You are softhearted and kind.  You cry over the homeless people we sometimes run across.  You are tough as nails who gives as good as she gets on the soccer field.  We are proud that you are equally happy whether you win or lose as long as you feel like you did the best you could.  You are funny and mischievous in the best way.

We love you so very much.  I can’t wait to see where you go in life.

Happy Birthday Elena!! Double digits will be cool until you are as old as your Uncle Mike. Then not so cool! Hope you enjoyed your day. I think I’ll go buy you a present.

Ditto on that last remark, Mama. Can’t wait to hug her Wed. eve. Drive safe, take the breaks. I remember those Kettering times when she, just months old, liked to sleep a lot, as I recall.
